Associates in our communities
Wrigley associates are passionate about supporting the local communities in which we operate and are provided opportunities to volunteer locally and internationally each year. The business supports associates that want to donate their time and talent to keeping our communities strong, building stronger teams and a stronger business.
We take part in the two global hallmark programs our parent company, Mars Incorporated, the Mars Volunteer Program and Mars Ambassador Program. These programs provide us all with opportunities to use our expertise and demonstrate our personal commitments.
Mars Volunteer Program
The Mars Volunteer Program (MVP) offers opportunities to all Wrigley and Mars associates to put Mars’ Five Principles into action in the communities where we live and work. During the year, Associates can take one paid day off to volunteer at local organizations selected by the teams at their sites.
Mars Ambassador Program
The Mars Ambassador Program (MAP) launched in 2008 with four associates from the Mars Chocolate business deployed to Ghana, Ecuador and the Philippines to work with the communities where we source ingredients, like cocoa. They worked on projects ranging from planting gardens and promoting health and nutrition, to teaching farmers business skills.
The enthusiasm our associates showed for participating in MAP led to tremendous growth in the program. Our associates can now apply to spend between four and six weeks sharing personal expertise on specific projects run by partners such as the Rainforest Alliance and WWF. There are also a range of group assignments where teams from around the world can travel and work together to boost knowledge on a particular subject, such as best practices in sustainability or oral care.
