Open-plan offices, approachable
people, honest communication.
No walls. No borders. No limits to what’s possible. Our culture is based on open, honest communication. And we don’t let anything stand in the way of that. Literally. You see, Mars businesses got rid of private office spaces to create accessible environments way back in 1943. And, as a new member of the Mars family, Wrigley offices are making the move to the open plan as well. For example, nobody in the Global Headquarters in Chicago has a private office. And we mean nobody – not even the Wrigley President.
Walk into any Mars building, anywhere in the world, and you’ll find the same thing. Open space, open communication, approachable people talking the same language and working together in entrepreneurial ways, because they treat the business as their own. And even though we’re a very decentralized business, one that encourages decisions to be taken locally, we agree that an open, approachable environment is the best environment.
And it’s no surprise that others agree. So much, in fact, that in 2011 and 2012, Great Place to Work® and Fortune.com named Mars one of the Top 25 World’s Best Multinational Workplaces, praising us for our “commitment to providing workplaces that are safe, healthy and positive; providing a unique training and education program through the Mars University; and celebrating Mars Associates’ commitment to making a difference to people and the planet by putting Mars Principles into Action through their work or community engagement.” The Gallup organization also recognized Mars in 2010 and 2012 when they awarded us with The Great Workplace Award.
