Wrigley Company President, Dushan Petrovich, To Depart;
Martin Radvan Appointed Successor
CHICAGO (May 2, 2011) — The Wm. Wrigley Jr. Company announced today that its President, Dushan “Duke” Petrovich, will be retiring from the company at the end of the year. He will be succeeded by Martin Radvan, current Global President of the Drinks segment of Mars, Incorporated.
A 36-year veteran of the Wrigley Company, Petrovich, 57, was named President in 2008, following acquisition of the company by Mars, Incorporated. While Petrovich will continue to provide guidance to the business through the end of 2011, he will step out of the role effective June 30, to allow his successor to lead business planning for 2012.
“From generating strong business results to developing talent and engaging associates, Duke has set a very strong course for Wrigley’s future,” said Paul S. Michaels, President and Chief Executive Officer of Mars, Incorporated. “Duke has been a key part of Wrigley for almost four decades. Looking back to his appointment in October 2008, we could not have picked a better leader to steward the Wrigley business as a new segment of Mars.”
A native of Chicago, Petrovich began his career in the Wrigley finance department in 1975. He was the first-ever Wrigley associate to rise from an entry level position to become an elected officer of the Company, and over the course of his career led several key functions, including finance, human resources, supply chain, procurement, information technology, and corporate affairs.
“Three years ago, when we announced the Mars acquisition, I knew that we would be entering one of the most critical periods in Wrigley’s history,” said Petrovich. “I had always viewed this role as a three-year opportunity, and having seen it through, I am proud of all we have accomplished and confident that the business has a tremendous future.”
In succeeding Petrovich, Radvan will bring 25 years of experience across a number of businesses of Mars, Incorporated. Beginning his Mars career in the UK, Radvan progressed through a variety of roles in Europe and the Middle East, with experience in logistics, finance, planning, information technology and general management. From 2006 to 2009, Radvan served as Chief Information Officer of Mars, Incorporated, before being appointed to lead Global Drinks in 2009.
“I have been very impressed by Martin’s leadership of our Drinks business, as well as his strategic contributions as a member of the Mars Leadership Team,” said Michaels. “The talent he has shown for leading and developing teams and businesses will make him a great President for Wrigley.”
“After serving for the past two years on the Mars Leadership Team with Martin, I can say with first-hand certainty that he is a strong and caring leader, who is well suited to Wrigley,” added Petrovich.
Radvan is a British citizen, and will be relocating to Chicago later this year.
